What a watermark is
A watermark is semi-transparent text or a logo placed on an image. It shows who made or owns the photo and makes it harder to use without permission.
It is most often used on product and project photos, design proofs and images that are posted on social media or sent to clients for approval.
How to add a watermark
It takes less than a minute:
- Choose a photo in JPG, PNG or WebP format.
- Type the watermark text, such as your company name or website address, or upload a logo.
- Adjust the size, opacity, angle and position of the mark. The preview updates straight away.
- Download the finished image. It keeps the format and size of the original.
A single mark or a repeated one
A single mark in a corner keeps the photo clean, which suits portfolios and posts where the image needs to look its best.
A repeated mark covers the whole photo and is much harder to crop or erase. It suits proofs and proposals that you send before approval or payment.
A light mark at 30% to 60% opacity usually shows up well without hiding the photo. On light photos, choose a dark colour.
Privacy: your photo never leaves your device
The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your photo and logo are processed locally, are not sent to a server and are not saved. When you close or reload the page, they are gone.
Frequently asked questions
Is adding a watermark free?
Yes. The tool is free, needs no registration and does not add a mark of its own to your image.
Can I use my logo as a watermark?
Yes. Choose Logo and upload a PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP file. A logo with a transparent background, such as a PNG or SVG, looks best.
Does the photo lose quality?
The image keeps its size and format. PNG is saved without loss, and JPG and WebP at high quality. Very large photos above 16 megapixels are scaled down, because some browsers cannot process a larger image.
Does PrintVes upload my photos?
No. Your photos are processed in the browser on your device and are not sent to a server.
Can the tool remove watermarks?
No. A watermark protects the creator's rights, so the tool only adds marks. Keep the original photo without a mark in case you need a clean copy later.
